Big Lottery Funded Workshops
In 2016, the school applied successfully for National Lottery funding. It was decided to use the funding to provide our pupils with more opportunities to express themselves and have their voices heard. We subsequently commissioned several external providers who would provide these opportunities in a variety of ways. Sessions with a beatboxer, graffiti artist and an animation expert provided creative outlets not normally included within the curriculum. Following these initial sessions we embarked on a longer term project with renowned rapper Andy Testament. Andy worked closely with a range of pupils and classes and ultimately produced CDs containing songs where the lyrics and music were created by the pupils. The lyrics were a reflection of the pupils and their experiences in life. As a school we are committed to listening to our pupils and ensuring what we learn is appropriate for our pupils and what they have experienced.
