Educational Visits form a vital part of our curriculum and take place on a weekly basis for all year groups. All external provider visits are supported by school staff and transport is provided.
KS3A (Years 7/8): All pupils take part in horse riding sessions as part of the RDA scheme for a full morning each week (this is weather dependent, and we do recommend that students bring a warm coat in the cooler months, all riding gear and boots are provided)
KS3B/C (Years 8/9): All pupils take part in either horse riding sessions as part of the RDA scheme, or attend Wilderness Adventures for a full morning each week (RDA is weather dependant, and we do recommend that pupils bring a warm coat in the cooler months, all riding gear and boots are provided)
Year 10: All pupils take part in construction lessons for a full morning each week (materials and protective clothing are provided)
Year 11: All pupils take part in external visits on a weekly basis as part of their CoPE qualification and these are organised by KS4 staff to follow the curriculum as appropriate.
Swimming: All pupils take part in swimming lessons during PE each academic year at local Leisure Centres. Towels and swim wear are provided, however pupils are welcome to bring their own swim wear if they wish.
In addition to the timetabled activities regular external visits are organised by class teachers to support the curriculum and further develop pupils' understanding of different topics e.g. visits to Drax Power Station whilst learning about energy and recycling, Conisborough Castle whilst learning about local history.
We also operate a Target system which ensures that pupils' achievements, however small, are rewarded with external visits. These operate on a four-weekly basis with a different trip based on how often pupils' achieve their personal target over the four week period. 70%(Gold), 55%(Silver) or 40%(Bronze). Past Gold trips have included Jump Nation, Skate parks, trips to the coast and the cinema. Se our home page for the latest trips.
